About me
I am Cheryl Ann Knights and I love to write! When I was young, I won several writing awards at school and in my spare time I would write poems for family and friends. Reading was also a favourite pastime. My favourite novel to read was The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I spent many weekends curled up escaping into the land of Narnia. I used to think it would be really neat to create this escape for others and decided when I was older that I would do just that!
Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes though and I found when I left school, instead of writing, I entered the optical industry. Later, in my twenties, I left to raise my two wonderful children. Once they were older I returned to optics and eventually opened two optometry practices which kept me very busy. I never gave up my passion for writing, but found myself too occupied to pursue this at the time.
Finally, I made the decision to sell the practices and write books full time which I achieved in 2014. My husband also retired to follow his passion which is sailing.
The Cooper Chronicles was my first novel and it has been really successful. There have been glowing reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and it currently has a five star rating. The feedback from readers has been very positive.
I am currently writing the sequel The Cooper Chronicles 2 The Inhabitors.
Also, I am working on another project – a picture book series teaching children about colours in an educational and enjoyable manner.
Mrs Mavis Marshmallow and the Colour Yellow is the first book in this series and is about to be released. James Jellybean and the Colour Green and Fiona Fairybread and The Colour Red will be the next ones to be published in this series.
We live on the sunny Gold Coast and when I am not writing, you will find us walking our two dogs along the beach, or taking our boat out on the bay. I have four beautiful grandchildren who I try to see as much as possible, they are an absolute joy.

I have written a novel called The Cooper Chronicles, it is the first of a series. I am currently writing the sequel to it.
Don’t be afraid to re-do your book as many times as necessary to make it as polished as it can be. You only get one shot at each book, so make it your best!
When I was a young girl I used to love to escape into the series The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I have always wanted to give others that same sense of escapism that I experienced while reading these books and because I still have that feeling, I am always inspired to write so that I can accomplish this.
I love that you can completely lose yourself in the book and escape to another dimension for a while. I really get into the characters and have a lot of fun with it.
I find the best thing to do if you feel that is to go away from the book and make a cuppa and come back to it later when you are in a better head space. I would never try to force anything, when things start to flow again write things down straight away at the time, or at least points so that you don’t forget them.
